Soon after updating its cruiser lineup with dark custom enhancement, the American giant Harley-Davidson has announced to relaunch its entry-level tourer, Road King in India. The bike was first launched in the year 2010 and was discontinued soon after due to some issues. But now it will be hitting the Indian roads in the next few weeks with an impressive makeover that might prove a good decision for the company.
Powering the Road King is a 1,689cc, air-cooled, twin CAM 103 engine that comes mated to a six-speed transmission and cranks out 142 Nm of torque. The bike moves over stylish 17-inch front and 16-inch rear aluminium wheels that enhance the aesthetics. Harley Davidson Road King has been equipped with a massive 22-litre fuel tank that supports its touring capabilities. The bike gets a lot of chrome that has been used at the headlight section, handlebar, engine, forks and the two-into-one exhaust setup. The huge front fender gets the robust Road King badge and covers the wide 130/80 tyre.
The rear tyre has been intelligently hidden behind the two leather saddlebags and the chromed exhaust. Besides this, the technology in the Road King has been upgraded to the latest standards. The electronic instrument console has been mounted over the fuel tank and features a speedometer, tachometer, distance to empty gauge and a gear position indicator. As per the safety elements, the bike has been blessed with a detachable windshield, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and an optional cruise control system. The manufacturer sells the Road King worldwide in seven colours. It is be expected to arrive in India at the price tag of somewhere around Rs. 23 lacs.
