The most popular leisure motorcycle brand, Harley Davidson is already doing quite well in the Indian market with its latest offering- Street 750. Now the company has desided to introduce specialised machines for women riders. Inspired by the great hike of 30% in sales to women in the past decade in the US, the company has developed women specific versions of Street 750 and 500.
The bikes get some cosmetic changes to reduce the dimensions along with little mechanical tweaks to increase the comfort for women riders. A smaller fuel tank replaces the masculine tear-drop fuel tank and it looses its shiny chrome, which might also reduce the cost of the machine. The women specific Street gets smaller handle grips with easy accessible foot peg position. It also receives a further lower seat for more comfortable and convenient ride.
Harley Davidson Street 750 sports a 749cc liquid-cooled, Revolution X, V-twin, which delivers 60Nm of peak torque at just 4,000rpm. Powering the Street 500 is the motor with similar configuration having displacement of 492cc and its capable to churn out extreme torque going upto 40Nm.
According to the Global H-D sales reports, there is one women buyer in every 10 motorcycles sold globally. This initiative will further help the company to increase its sales figures. The company might introduce the women specific Street 750 in India as well, however both the models including the Street 500 will be introduced in the global market soon.
