Harley Sportster 1200 Custom to be Launched on Jan 28

Harley-Davidson India is launching a new motorcycle, Sportster 1200 Custom on January 28, 2016. The bike is coming after the manufacturer discontinued two of its models, SuperLow and FatBoy Special from the Indian lineup. The company will be launching the motorcycle during the Great Desert Ride which will take place from January 27 to 30. Like all other offerings from the American bike manufacturer, 1200 Custom will also be coming to the country through Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route. It is expected to be priced somewhere around Rs. 10 lac and will rival Indian Scout in India.

Sportster 1200 Custom will come equipped with the same 1.2L, V-twin engine that is available in Forty-Eight. Mated to a 5-speed gearbox, the motor generates 96Nm of peak torque at 3,750rpm. Recently, Harley Indian lineup got a price update which came into effect from January 8. The company’s Indian lineup consists of Street 750, Iron 883, Forty-Eight, Street Bob, Fat Bob, Fat Boy, Breakout, Heritage Softail Classic, Night Rod, Road King, Street Glide Special and CVO Limited.

Soon after the launch, Harley-Davidson will start the riding season of this year with the 4th India H.O.G. Rally which is scheduled to take place from February 18.  It will be the biggest national Harley rally of the country till date. Speaking about the rally, Vikram Pawah, Managing Director, Harley-Davidson India, said, “The India H.O.G. Rally is going to be a grand celebration of the adventure-loving, rebellious spirit of Harley-Davidson and we look forward to riding with our customers, many of whom will be attending it for the very first time.”
