[Update: TVS Motor Company Acquires Norton Motorcycles]
The iconic Norton Motorcycles recently got a handsomely generous £4 million in grant funding from the UK government. This pot of gold will go towards making a new manufacturing facility, to generate more jobs and new models. Its great news for the British label and motorcycle enthusiast too as Norton plans to release a 203PS V4-powered sport bike, similar to the ‘SG’ models that have been raced at the Isle of Man TT.
According to sources, the new superbike will have a 1,200cc V4 engine that makes over 203PS. The machine is supposed to go head-to-head with the 1,285cc v-twin of the Ducati 1299 Panigale. The engine for this motorcycle will be developed by Ricardo Motorcycles, and will take cues from British car brands like Aston Martin and other designs in the British F1 passage that Norton is situated in.
Apart from this, the other models slated on the books from Norton are a 650cc parallel-twin sport bike as well as a rumoured electric model. Now unfortunately these motorcycles don’t seem likely to come to India in the near of far future but if we get a chance to ride them we’ll let you know and if you get to ride them, do let us know.
