HD Bikes Price In India Won’t Affect Despite Import Duty Hike

Despite an increase in import duty for completely knocked down (CKD) vehicle parts; Harley Davidson will not hike price of it’s two new India bound assembled bikes. Now the Harley Davidson SuperLow and Harley Davidson Iron 883 will be available at announced price of Rs 5.5 lakh and Rs 6.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
Harley Davidson is the US cruiser giant which entered in Indian two wheeler market in 2007 is, now, going to set up an assembly plant at Bawal in Haryana. After Brazil, this assembly plant will be second by the company. The company is going to assemble two bikes in this CKD assembly plant.
The import duty has been hiked on imported CKD parts of the vehicles but HD to manage this announced price for both the bikes. It has started production of both the bikes at this assembly plant and the delivery for both the bikes will be commenced this year and will be available at five dealership stores in the country.
HD has entered in the Indian market with fully imported bikes which are priced between Rs 7.50 lakh to Rs 34.95 lakh. After these bike models, it would try to assemble another bike models like Harley Davidson Cvo, Harley Davidson Dyna, Harley Davidson Softail, Harley Davidson Sportster, Harley Davidson Touring and Harley Davidson V Rod.
The Harley Davidson SuperLow and Harley Davidson Iron 883 will compete with Hyosung bikes, Victory bikes and Royal Enfield bikes which are another cruiser bikes in the country.
