After the success of i3S technology in Splendor iSmart, Hero MotoCorp is going to use the same feature in the 2016 Super Splendor. A spy shot of the upcoming motorcycle has emerged, which shows a new instrument console having ‘Super Splendor’ written in the speedometer along with an i3S telltale lamp. According to some reports, the bike will arrive at the 2016 Auto Expo in February and it could be christened as Hero Super Splendor iSmart.
The styling of the new Super Splendor will be much different from the existing model and it is also expected to share the design lines with the Splendor iSmart that was launched in March 2014. Reports also suggest that the upcoming Super Splendor with i3S will retain the same 124.7cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that powers the current model of the bike. The motor makes power up to 9bhp at 7,000rpm and delivers torque up to 10.35Nm at just 4,000rpm.
The i3S is an Idle Start and Stop technology, which is used to reduce the loss of fuel during idling. It is a switchable system, so you can turn it on or off according to your riding conditions. When actuated, the system automatically turns off the engine of your motorcycle when it is found in idling condition for a predefined time. As the rider presses the clutch lever, the function works as an electric start and turns on the engine. It helps in saving the fuel wastage on long halts at traffic signals or other stops, which results in a higher fuel efficiency.
