Hero MotoCorp unveiled the Xoom 160 concept at the EICMA motorshow in 2023. We now have first glimpses of the scooter which is in its production-ready avatar. The scooter has been spotted testing and reveals some interesting details.
Design
The Hero Xoom 160 continues with the design which was showcased on the concept model over two years ago. The Xoom gets a proper maxi-scooter design which includes a large raised front end, dual LED headlights, a large flyscreen, an ADV-styled front beak, and beefy body panels which gives the scooter a muscular stance. The side profile is highlighted by a centre tunnel on the floor board which will house the fuel tank and a long single-piece. The rear section comprises a slim LED tail-light to give that sporty touch. The overall look is enhanced by the block pattern tyres which gives the scooter a butch stance.
Engine and Underpinnings
The Hero Xoom 160 will be powered by a 156cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which will make around 15PS and 15Nm, and could get a CVT gearbox. The suspension duties are handled by a telescopic fork and dual-shock absorbers. Maxi-scooters generally get good underseat storage capacities along with a large fuel tank which could be the case with the Xoom 160 as well. The braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends and the scooter rides on 14-inch alloy wheels wrapped around with block-pattern tyres
Features
From the spy shots, we can tell a lot about the features the Xoom 160 will get. For instance, the Xoom 160 will get dual-pod LED headlights upfront, though the indicators seen in the spy-shots are bulb-type. It will come with a digital instrument cluster and it looks like it is the same unit as the Hero Xoom 110 Combat Edition. Other features which we can see from the spy shots is that the Xoom 160 will come with keyless ignition and idle stop-start to increase the overall mileage of the scooter.
Expected Price, Launch Date and Rivals
The Hero Xoom 160 is expected to be priced at Rs 1.40 lakh (ex-showroom) and could launch by the end of this month. Once launched, the maxi-scooter will go against the likes of Yamaha Aerox 155 and the Aprilia SXR 160 in India.
