Kawasaki bears a fantastic reputation for the kind of mean machines they can produce in cool shades of green and black. They recently took the biking world by storm with their super sport H2 and H2R, a motorcycle they call “built beyond belief”. Keeping the 800 cc motorcycles distanced from revolutionary technology was something the engineers at Kawasaki were not ready to settle for. Kawasaki is working on another slightly less powerful supercharged variants trademarked the Ninja R2 and Ninja R2R.

Through the Ninja R2 and R2R, the company aims to make the supercharging technology more accessible to riders. The 800cc engine employed in the R2 will hopefully be the same that was showcased by the company at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.

If some reports are to be believed, the Ninja R2 will come powered by an 800cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine mated to a six-speed transmission. The supercharged motor is expected to produce around 190bhp with an estimated torque of 110Nm. The bike will be based on its elder sibling (the) Ninja H2 with some inputs taken from the smaller Ninja 300. The front end has been bestowed with aggressive LED headlight units with rest of the design elements resembling the Ninja H2.

For now we have no information on the production details of the R2. However one could expect to see it at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. At EICMA 2016, the company’s president Mr. Kenji Tomida did make a mention about the scalability of the H2 motor. We will be more than happy to see it on the 800 too.

Stay tuned for more updates!
