Kawasaki has finally launched its most affordable motorcycle in India- Z250 with a price tag of Rs. 2.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The 250cc Streetfighter is based on the platform of Ninja 300 along with the bodywork. However, the headlight, front fairing and engine cowl look inspired from its elder sibling- the Z800. The bike will compete with the other entry level performance bikes in India including KTM 200 Duke and 390 Duke, Honda CBR250R, Suzuki Inazuma 250 and Hyosung GT250R.

The naked sport machine, Kawasaki Z250 houses the same 249cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC 8-valve, parallel-twin engine, which also powers the 2013 Ninja 250R. Mated to a 6-speed transmission, the engine churns out 31.5bhp of maximum power at 11,000rpm and a peak torque of 21Nm at 10,000rpm, using electronic fuel injection.

Belonging to the popular Kawasaki 'Z' family, Z250 gets a wild appearance. It features light and sporty alloys with meaty tyres, dual disc brakes, 37mm front telescopic forks and adjustable bottom-link uni-trak suspension at the rear. The bikes will come to India via CKD route and sold at the pro-biking dealerships with three colour options- White, Black and Red. Specs and styling of the bike makes it a strong competitor in the market, however, the price looks high compared to its rivals.
