KTM Duke 390, the middleweight marvel from the Bajaj-KTM joint venture that is slated down for a mid-2013 launch, has been spotted doing test runs in Pune by Yogesh Naik, which was shared by Indiancarsbikes. Features like ABS integrated with the rear disc brakes and Metzeler-made tyres, which are quite apparent in the spy-shots that have been shared on their website are clear indications that this bike is definitely a Duke 390.

Considering the heavy localisation strategy that Bajaj followed for the KTM Duke 200, a similar process can be expected for the 390 as well. And if that happens, it would not come as a surprise if the Duke 390 becomes the most affordable offering of the <500cc segment of the Indian bike industry as soon as it goes on sale. Speaking of sales, just like its 200cc sibling, this new entrant will also be sold through the 70 Probiking showrooms of Bajaj spread across the entire nation.

KTM has already succeeded in selling a total of 107,000 units globally last year, which is the best that the company has ever achieved and now it is aiming even higher, planning on recording a sales figure of not less than 120,000 this year.

And taking into account the fact that the Duke 200 has sold out 8,500 units (as of February, 2013) only in India, making it largest selling premium bike brand in India, this target does not seem like a very difficult feat for the company.
