Mahindra Stallio could not meet expectations

Mahindra Stallio, the 110cc commuter bike from Mahindra Two wheeler is not doing well in the market. The sales of the bike is negative against company's hopes. The company is providing warranty and schemes with this bike but all in vain.

Mahindra Stallio is the first motorcycle by Mahindra and its launch was done with pump and show. Meanwhile Mahindra scooters such as Mahindra Duro and Mahindra Rodeo are getting buzz response from the customers, both scooters compete with Honda Activa and Suzuki Access.

After the launch of Mahindra Stallio, the sale of Mahindra Stallio in November- 2010 was limited up to 2,759 units; 716 units in December and 421 units in the month of January 2011; according to Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). February sales data will be available soon.

Mahindra Stallio is very smart and sporty bike in Mahindra two-wheeler's stable and it's price starts from Rs. 41000 to Rs 44699 in Indian market. The bike is has a 4 stroke, SI engine, single cylinder, air cooled and SOHC valve configuration, 106.7 cc engine. This engine of bike produces a power of 7.3 PS at 7500 rpm and churns out a maximum torque of 8 Nm at 5500 rpm. And the bike comes with 4 Speed Constant Mesh Transmission, electric start, and electric ignition.

In terms of technology and features; Mahindra Stallio competes with Hero Honda CD Deluxe, Hero Honda Splendor, Honda Twister, Yamaha YBR, Bajaj Platina and Hero Honda Passion. But due to reliability, less service station etc. it can't do well.

On the other hand, Mahindra Two-wheeler is all set to launch one more bike, Mahindra Mojo, in the market. The bike will be loaded with 300cc engine and might be launched in the second quarter of this year. The bike will come as an answer to Honda CBR 250R (Announced), Kawasaki Ninja 250R, Bajaj Pulsar 250R (upcoming), TVS Apache 250R (upcoming) and Hero Honda Karizma.
