Being a part of Indian two-wheeler market, Mahindra Two wheeler - the 100 per cent subsidiary of M&M - has entered in the bike segment. In the month of September last year, it has launched two new bikes in India; 110cc Mahindra Stallio and 300cc Mahindra Mojo. The company started promoting Mahindra Stallio through its attractive TV advertisements and with lots of schemes. The bike could do well due to some problems in the parts, it was completely ignored by the customers and now the production of the bike is closed for some time.
The production for the bike went down by 81 per cent in last three months. Only 139 units of the bike produced in the month of February this year while only 46 units were sold in this month as against 716 units in December 2010.
The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) reported that production of the Mahindra Stallio was 716 units in the month of December 2010 and the month of January 2010 saw only 421 units and 139 units in the month of February this year; totally 46 units were sold in the current month which is 81 per cent down as compared to 256 units of in December, 2010.
Mahindra Stallio is being promoted by Bollywood star Aamir Khan but in the starting the bike got a jerk due to some technical problems. In a statement, the company reports that now Mahindra two-wheeler is aware of all the problems of sold bikes and will come with technically re-freshed Stallio. Now the company is close to bring Mahindra Mojo which is loaded with a 300cc engine. The bike will be launched by the end of this year.
Meanwhile to promote Mahindra bikes, the company had announced about to enter in to MotoGP world championship with its 125cc bike.
