Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd (MTWL) sales for the month of May 2011 remained 10,970 units, an increase of 36% over the last year. MTWL, a part of the US $ 11.1 billion Mahindra Group, further consolidated its presence in the two wheeler segment in May 2011. The company currently has six offerings in India. Two of these are bikes including Mahindra Mojo and Mahindra Stallio while Mahindra Duro, Mahindra Kine, Mahindra Rodeo and Mahindra Sym Flyte are scooters. These are in straight competition to similar bikes by Bajaj, Honda and Suzuki.
The cumulative sales crossed a landmark figure of two and a half lakh units, while the Mahindra Rodeo has crossed a figure of 1 lakh units. Mahindra 2 Wheelers’ Power Scooters cater to a range of consumer segments. The Mahindra Rodeo with its very innovative, contemporary features is popular amongst the Indian youth, while the Mahindra Duro is positioned as a family scooter. Mahindra Flyte on the other hand is the Indian woman’s two-wheeler of choice. The stylish Mahindra Stallio creates a niche for itself in the motorcycles category.
