Currently owned by Piaggio, Moto Guzzi is the oldest European motorcycle manufacturer that is continuously in production since it was established in 1921. The Italian manufacturer has a historical role in the motorcycle industry because of its remarkable innovations including the first motorcycle center stand, eight-cylinder engine and wind tunnel. Moto Guzzi motorcycles are known well worldwide for their 90° V-twin engines with a longitudinal crankshaft orientation that is mounted transversely. In India, the company has tied up with some dealers to sell its motorcycles via CBU route and they were displayed at Auto Expo 2014. Again, the company will bring some new models at the upcoming edition of the motor show and the new fleet is expected to include the new Bobber and Roamer that are based on the V9. So, let’s take a brief introduction of these motorcycles.

Moto Guzzi V9 Roamer:

Unveiled at the 73rd Milan Motor Show, both the V9 Bobber and the V9 Roamer have been introduced by Moto Guzzi as ‘easy cruisers’, following the tag line- ‘light, agile and built for excitement’. Both the bikes are powered by the new 850cc, transverse V-Twin engine that is fed by a Marelli electronic fuel injection system. The motor makes 54.25bhp at 6,250rpm of maximum power and a peak torque of 61Nm at just 3,000rpm. It comes mated to a slick six-speed transmission and a shaft drive has been provided to transfer the delivered torque to the rear wheel. The V9 Roamer has been styled like a classic machine following authentic custom, Mandello-style that incorporates features like all metal fabrication, brat seat, lots of chrome and more.

Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber:

Having “an altogether darker and more nocturnal soul”, the V9 Bobber is just visually different when compared to the V9 Roamer. The bike gets a dark custom paint scheme along with chopped fenders and fatter tyres.
