The upcoming Chetak may get a major overhaul in terms of chassis and battery specifications
Bajaj is going to launch the all-new Chetak electric scooter in India tomorrow. The Chetak is expected to receive major updates to make the scooter a better proposition in the evergrowing electric two-wheeler market of India. The Chetak was also spied on earlier and we get to know some interesting details.
What do we expect?
We expect the overall design of the upcoming Bajaj Chetak to remain similar to the outgoing model as the design does carry a cool vintage vibe with modern elements which appeals to the masses. The scooter may also receive a reworked chassis which will reposition the battery pack below the floorboard. This repositioning will decrease the centre of gravity of the scooter, increase stability, better weight distribution and allow better handling. The most important benefit of repositioning the battery will be the increased underseat storage capacity which is something which Chetak lacked compared to its rivals. The battery pack is expected to become larger and have more energy-dense cells which will give the Chetak better range.
In terms of features, the Chetak should continue to get the TFT display, like in the current top variant, with riding modes, turn-by-turn navigation, call/SMS alerts, and a lot more. Bajaj may even give it more features which will allow the scooter to stand apart.
The test mules which were spotted a while back also indicated a key difference. The test mules had the conventional key design unlike the key fob which the current generation of Chetak has which allows for keyless ignition.
Price and Rivals
The upcoming Chetak is expected to be priced at a premium over the outgoing model which is priced from Rs 99,998 up to Rs 1,40,444 (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). Once the scooter is launched, it will go against the likes of Ather Rizta, TVS iQube, Ola S1 Pro and the recently launched Vida V2.
