Yamaha India has given hints on not getting into the cruiser market, as it issued a statement that it has ‘No plans of introducing cruisers.’ It comes as a surprise as the Japanese manufacturer has produced one of the oldest small displacement cruisers, Enticer. The bike worked like a magnet for the automobile industry and became a successful product for the company. Powered by a 125cc engine, the Enticer was the best affordable cruiser of its time though now it has lost its marks.

The company has stated that the bike was used to check likes of the Indian market. As Choice of a consumer is valuable for the company, so Yamaha decided to experiment and bring Enticer into the market and see what kind of bikes would work in India. Current scenario states that the company is focused on its other products rather getting back into its old machines. Despite holding a success badge, small cruisers are not on the ‘to-do list’ of the company.

Now, Indian automaker Bajaj holds the monopoly to the small displacement cruiser segment with its fresh launch Avenger Street 150. Till date, other giants of the industry don’t have any cruisers that can beat the Avenger series, but we might get some surprises in at the 2016 Auto Expo to be held in Delhi.

Talking about Enticer, the bike had a 125cc engine shared with the YBR125 that offered satisfactory power and a comfortable ride. Enticer became a hit and was a master of streets. Also, the bike performed pretty well on highways and came up as an overall package for Indian buyers. It came in the market between 2002 and 2006 and further changes were made over the time as there were some technological upgrades in the bike. The model which attracted consumers a lot was the Deluxe version that had front disc brakes and electric start.
