The stark increase in petrol prices has paved the way for the electric scooter market in the country. And Ola Electric, with its three e-scooters portfolio that are Ola S1, Ola S1 Pro and Ola S1 Air, now has managed to surpass all other premium EV brands clocking a 20,000 sales number, a first for the EV maker.

Ola claims to have recorded a 60 percent MoM growth, which translates to around an estimated 8,000 units. Ola hadn’t revealed the exact sales number last year but did reveal the registration numbers, which amounted to 9,634 units. Apart from that, Ola claims to have dominated 50 percent of the premium electric scooter market share which includes Ather, Chetak, and TVS iQube as well.

There are a bunch of reasons why Ola has seen a spike in sales. Firstly, it offers multiple features and incredible claimed performance and range at a very competitive price point and has also started fixing the software glitches that hindered the rider experience.

Ola S1

Adding more to its portfolio, Ola released a more affordable S1 variant in August at Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom Delhi). At a more affordable price tag, the EV maker offered more features (same as S1 Pro) and performance compared to its rivals. To lure in more customers, Ola offered an extended five-year warranty on the e-scooters and had also given a Rs 10,000 discount on the S1 Pro during the festive season.

With the launch of the S1 Air, which rivals the 110cc petrol scooters like the Honda Activa 6G, along with MoveOS upgrades, experience centres launches and installation of the Hypercharger network, the sales figure for the EV brand is likely to increase further.
