The company has also launched a line of accessories for all its e-scooters
This Diwali, Ola launched the entry point to its electric mobility ecosystem, the S1 Air, at an introductory pricing of Rs 79,999. In addition to this new Ola electric scooter, the Bengaluru-based manufacturer also showcased the new MoveOS 3 OTA update, which packs features such as fast-charging and hill-hold assist along with improvements in the user interface.
The new MoveOS 3 update now provides features which were promised back in 2021, namely hill-hold assist, moods and regen. However, the biggest feature now offered through thi OTA update is the unlocking of fast-charging capability. Ola claims to have installed 50 hyperchargers across the country, which can provide an Ola S1 with 50km range in just 15 minutes.
This update also offers three Moods (not to be confused with riding modes), namely Bolt, Vintage and Eclipse, which change the UI on the TFT display while also emitting a faux exhaust sound in line with the theme selected, through the onboard speakers. Another unique feature is a ‘party’ mode, which flashes the lights on the scooter in sync with any soundtrack that is being played via the speakers.
Gone are the days of painstakingly punching in that six-digit passcode, as the latest software offers proximity alert that enables the scooter to automatically unlock itself as the rider approaches it. It also gets Profile Sharing, wherein the e-scooter can be shared with others without divulging the passcode.
MoveOS 3 now also offers three levels of regenerative braking, which now offers the rider the choice of setting the intrusiveness of the system to incrementally charge the battery pack as the e-scooter slows down. Also hill-hold allows the e-scoot to stay stationary on an incline with just the tap of the brake lever.

Ola has stated that the sign-ups for the beta version of MoveOS 3 will begin from October 25, followed by the rollout of this OTA update to all Ola S1 owners in December. In addition to this, the company has also launched a range of accessories compatible with all variants of the S1, which include a centre stand and a side step, for pillions to sit sideways. Both these accessories will be available for purchase from January 2023 onwards.
