The CEO has shared images of the first batch of electric scooters at the factory

Deliveries of the first batch of the Ola S1 range of electric scooters will start from December 15, Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal has confirmed while sharing images of the EVs at the company factory. If you want to buy one now, the second purchase window opens in late January 2022. Pre-bookings are underway for Rs 499. Ola Electric says the tentative delivery dates will be notified within 72 hours of purchase, and the e-scooter will be delivered directly to one’s doorstep.

Now that the scooters are almost ready, expect first lot deliveries to go smoothly, provided the logistics work out. This is especially because the sales model is centralised and does not involve any local dealerships. Initially, deliveries were supposed to commence on November 25 but got delayed

In its first year, the company plans to set up 5,000 charging points across 100 cities in the country. But till now, only one charging station, in Bengaluru, has been spotted so far

The Ola S1 range has two variants: S1 and S1 Pro. These offer a claimed range of 121km and 181km, respectively. The S1 costs Rs 85,099, and the S1 Pro retails at Rs 1,10,149 (both ex-showroom Delhi, including FAME II subsidy). The state subsidy will be over and above this, which will bring down costs further.

Here’s what we liked and disliked about the Ola S1 Pro when we took it out for a spin. The Ola S1 goes up against the Ather 450X, Bajaj Chetak, and the TVS iQube Electric. Another alternative is the Revolt RV400, an electric bike with swappable batteries.
