Piaggio has been very successful with its maiden scooter Vespa in the country and after this the Italian Scooter maker is all set to launch a new scooter, Piaggio Fly 125cc. Unlike the Vespa, Fly has new age looks with more aggressive appearance and the scooter will come equipped with a 125cc motor. There are rumours around that the company might launch this scooter in Mid-November. We are expecting the new scooter to be launched with an aggressive price tag of around Rs 55,000, which is actually very competitive. And if it happens, it will certainly be a tough competition for Honda Activa, Suzuki Swish, Mahindra Duro DZ etc.

The Italian scooter maker is already aware to the fact that the scooter segment in India has been growing with a rate of 24.5% annually, and that's why they are expanding their portfolio. The pictures suggest that the 'Fly' sports the similar body lines and styling as that of Yamaha Rio and Honda Dio. However, its uniquely positioned headlight on the front fender will retain the same signature retro styling of Vespa. It will be equipped with telescopic forks up front and hydraulic shock absorbers in the rear. The model will have drum brakes in front and rear, but disc brake could be offered as an option. The new scooter will be powered by the same 125-cc engine like the Vespa, which offers 10.06 PS and 10.06 Nm, though tuned to offer better fuel efficiency.

Piaggio is already done with the testing and now finalizing the schedules and might soon announce the dates. The company is also trying to open new dealerships across the country to match with the increasing demand. Stay tuned for the more updates on the same.
