Owner of multiple motorcycle and other automotive brands, Polaris is now eyeing the prestigious Italian performance motorcycle manufacturer, MV Agusta.

Popular ATV manufacturer Polaris has a host of companies under its umbrella, including Indian Motorcycles, Victory Motorcycles, and Brammo. Now, the American group is trying to add another brand to its list and that is the exotic Italian motorcycle maker, MV Agusta. This could be a good move for MV too, as it could help them in overcoming their debts.

Debts on MV Agusta seemed to increase hand in hand with their business and, even after selling a 25 per cent stake to AMG recently, its problems didn't disappear completely. However, Polaris has considerable experience in taking up troubled bikemakers and resurrecting them. Its completely owned entity, Indian Motorcycles, was almost closed when Polaris acquired it in 2011 and turned its fortunes around. Before that, Polaris did the same with Victory Motorcycles as well. So, we can expect a good future of MV if it goes with the American firm.

Some reports suggest that the recovery plan would include intervention by Polaris and would see MV agreeing to produce 5,700 bikes a year instead of the 15,000 units previously planned. It's difficult to predict what will happen with MV Agusta, but all we can say is getting an investor with pockets as deep as Polaris can put it back in business in a proper way.

Recently, MV Agusta also made its entry into the Indian market with the launch of three superbikes - the F3 800, the Brutale 1090 and the F4, along with the inauguration of its first Motoroyale dealership in Pune.
