Royal Enfield is all set to launch its highly awaited adventure tourer, the Himalayan during the second week of March. Earlier, on 2nd of February, the CEO of Eicher Motors, Siddhartha Lal unveiled the motorcycle and shared his experience about this 411cc adventure sports motorcycle. As per one of our sources, the bike is most likely to get the price tag of Rs. 1.6 Lac (Ex-showroom Delhi). With the launch of Himalayan, the Indian automaker is all set to create a new motorcycle segment. As per the reports, the company has been working for the last 5 years to bring this state-of-the-art machine for the biking enthusiasts.
The bike has already been started reaching dealerships and is scheduled to be launched by the second week of March. Before presenting it to the world, the company has tested the motorcycle on different terrains by the industry experts such as CS Santosh. On papers, the bike isn’t as exciting as it actually is. Powering of the motorcycle is a newly developed 411cc, named as LS410, the LS of the engine stands for Long-Stroke - a tradition with Royal Enfield motorcycles. Its smooth single--cylinder, oil-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC mill is capable enough to produce 24.5bhp of power at 6,500rpm and the promising 32Nm peak torque at 4,000-4,500rpm. The company claims it to be a free-revving machine as it can run 10,000kms without an oil change. It will also be available with optional accessories including metal luggage panniers as well as the front guard that can hold plastic jerry cans. This will help the rider to carry luggage, extra fuel and water with ease for long journeys.
Furthermore, the Himalayan is the company’s first motorcycle to get mono shock suspension at the rear, which perfectly matches the strong telescopic forks given up front. The chassis of the motorcycle is designed by UK-based ‘Harris Performance’, which when combined with its long travel suspension set-up, makes it capable enough to take on any kind of terrain. Moreover, the motorcycle runs on 21-inch spoke wheel at the front and 18-inch spoke wheel at the rear, which is shod with on and off road compatible CEAT tyres. Both the wheels deploy disc brakes to ensure better control.
