As you all are aware, Royal Enfield showcased the Thunderbird 500 at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo earlier this year. The bike has been creating sensation and has always been in rumours since then. There were rumours earlier for its launch, but this time around the news has come from some trusted sources that the legendary bike-maker is all set to launch the bike on 11th October. The upcoming Thunderbird 500 will be powered by the same air-cooled single cylinder 4-stroke Twin Spark motor that has been serving the Royal Enfield Classic 500 and 350 models. There are also speculations that the company is going to replace the existing Thunderbird 350 by this second generation Thunderbird. The bike is likely to be launched in two variants, Thunderbird 350 and 500. The new generation Thunderbird will be packed with all new age equipments like projector headlight, fuel injection, gas-charged suspension, rear disc brake, digital LCD console and some other features that will make this cruiser more tech savvy and advanced. However, it might affect its pricing; the new Thunderbird can get costlier than the outgoing model. For a Royal Enfield bike, cost may not play a crucial role but this can’t be ignore completely, hence we can expect a competitive price tag from the company.
There are only two affordable cruiser bikes available in the country: RE Thunderbird and Bajaj Avenger, so it will be better for them to put the prices in right slot. The only competitor of Thunderbird, Bajaj Avenger scores more when it comes to the equipment level but this time the new Thunderbird doesn’t fail to impress as the equipments are top-notch. The new Thunderbird will be packed with fuel injection, so we can expect a better fuel economy from this cruiser this time. All the bike fanatics and RE fans are waiting eagerly for this upgraded Thunderbird and expecting a thunderous performance from this hot-rod, so we are.
