The scooter will be the most affordable one from Simple and a competitor to established brands like Ather and Ola
Simple Energy has launched their newest and most affordable electric scooter, the Simple Dot One in India, with bookings currently being open online. The scooter is offered at an exclusive introductory price of Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom Bengaluru) for customers who have pre-booked the scooter from Bangalore.
The final price of the scooter will be revealed in January 2024 and will be at a slight premium over the introductory price, deliveries will begin in Bangalore followed by other cities. The scooter will be offered in 6 colours: Namma Red, Brazen Black, Azure Blue, Grace White, BrazenX, LightX.
The Simple Dot One is powered by a 3.7kWh Li-ion battery mated to a single state direct belt drive transmission motor that produces peak power of 8.5kW and max torque of 72Nm. The scooter has a certified range 151km and top speed of 105kmph. Simple claims that the Dot One accelerates from 0-40kmph in 2.77 seconds.
When it comes to charging, it takes 3 hours and 47 minutes to charge the scooter from 0-80 percent on a regular charger. On fast charging it can be charged from 0-80 percent with a charging rate of 1.5km/min. Simple Energy offers the scooter with a 750W charger as standard.
Coming to underpinnings, the Simple Dot One is built on a steel tubular chassis and with a telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are handled by a 200mm disc with a triple piston calliper at the front and a 190mm disc with single piston calliper at the rear, with a Combined Braking System and regenerative braking as standard. The Scooter rolls on 12-inch 90-section tyres at the front and rear. It has a kerb weight of 126kg and comes with a ground clearance of 164.5mm.
In terms of features, the Simple Dot One gets a 7-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity that brings features such as call/SMS alerts, onboard navigation, parking assist and battery range and performance monitoring. The scooter comes with 4 riding modes: Eco, Ride, Dash and Strove. It also gets a spacious 35L boot space.
The Simple Dot One competes with other offerings in the EV market such as the Ola S1 X, Ather 450S, TVS iQube and the Bajaj Chetak.
