Simple One Electric Scooter Now More Powerful Than Before

The deliveries of the e-scooter will begin from June this year
The Simple One electric scooter's motor has been upgraded to boost performance and efficiency. The EV was launched on August 15 last year at Rs 1,09,999 (ex-showroom Delhi), and Simple Energy has confirmed that its deliveries will be commencing in June.
The company claims that the efficiency of the 8.5kW motor has gone up to 96 percent, along with improved performance and thermal management. The motor produces continuous power of 4.5kW and a peak torque of 72Nm. Simple Energy also claims that the scooter will offer faster acceleration than initially promised. For reference, the EV goes from 0-40kmph in less than 2.85 seconds, about 0.10 seconds quicker than earlier. Its top speed is 105kmph.
The Simple One is powered by a 4.8kWh battery pack and is claimed to offer a range of over 200km in ‘Eco’ mode. The battery is said to charge from 0 to 80 percent in 2.7 hours (with the home charger), whereas it takes one minute of fast charging for a charge good for 2.5km.

The Bengaluru-based startup has said that the scooter will get additional upgrades in the coming weeks. The EV will be manufactured at the company's Hosur (Tamil Nadu) facility, which has an annual capacity of 1 million units. Simple Energy has also commissioned a manufacturing plant in Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu, which will spread across 600 acres and produce 12.5 million units annually.
The Simple One rivals the Ola S1 Pro (Rs 1.22 lakh) and the Ather 450X (Rs 1.38 lakh), Both prices, ex-showroom Delhi, including subsidies.
