India craves for cruisers! And what could be hotter than a cruiser from Harley Davidson! Isn't owning a Harley a dream for all bikers? So here's something that could be of high interest. Harley Davidson has started showing special interest in its development in India. Last year, the princely bike manufacturer started with its Indian CKD unit assembly. And now the news is India would soon have bikes specially made for India and in India. With the upcoming Indian leg of Harley, India gets to be the second lucky country to have a Harley unit out of United States of America.
All said and done, with the high-priced products are still a dream for most of us, yet to come to a reality. The aim of this new Harley plant is to help us realize these dreams. The CKD unit in India would help the manufacturer help lower its prices in the country. There are many other big names producing the same kind of products, though at cheaper rate tags, in and for India. If Harley manages lowering it prices in India, it sure can find itself a firm footing here as well. And India can see one of the numerous dreams coming true.
Something on the upcoming bike. A totally localized version, specially for India, to be sold at Rs. 3.5 lakhs which is quite reasonable price tag if it comes from Harley,it will stand out as a direct competition to premium bikes, Hyosung GT250R, Kawasaki Ninja 250R, etc. The competition bikes standing in the price bracket of 2-3 lakhs, Harley will have to launch products in the same bracket to gain a bombshell entry in the Indian premium bike industry. Obviously no specs are out as yet, but then the current features of this upcoming Harley bike are it is a HARLEY bike, is AFFORDABLE, and is SPECIALLY made for India! Good enough features for us to start craving for the launch!
If rumors are to be trusted, Harley plans to showcase the bike during Auto Expo 2014. So now, we can expect the bike on Indian roads sometime around the mid of the year 2014. Pretty long time, eh? Can't seem to wait now that the news is out? But then, a Harley, affordable at that, made for India ... worth a wait, isn't it?
