Suzuki India has confirmed that it will be launching the Gixxer SF 250 MotoGP Edition in August. The Japanese brand had recently launched the 2019 Gixxer SF MotoGP edition. This variant features Suzuki’s 2019 GSX-RR MotoGP bike-inspired livery, complete with “Ecstar” stickers on the fairing and rim tapes.
We believe Suzuki might replicate the same in the Gixxer SF 250. While the 2019 Gixxer SF MotoGP edition carries a premium of Rs 735 over the standard colour variant, we believe the MotoGP edition for the quarter-litre faired bike could be dearer by around Rs 1000 over the normal colour variant. The motorcycle is priced at Rs 1.70 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
At present, the quarter-litre motorcycle comes in two colours: silver and black. These two colour variants aren’t exactly flashy and the upcoming MotoGP edition should make the bike look a lot sportier than the standard colour variants.
Apart from the cosmetic updates, the mechanicals will remain unchanged. It is powered by a 249cc oil-cooled engine which produces 26.5PS of power and 22.6Nm of torque. The powerplant is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The bike comes with disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS as standard. It competes against the Honda CBR250R, the Yamaha Fazer25 and Bajaj Pulsar RS200.
