The Chennai based two wheeler manufacturer TVS Motors is testing a new 110cc commuter. Recently, a camouflaged test mule of the bike has been spotted near the company's factory in Hosur. Body panels and exhaust muffler of the test bike is looking quite similar to 125cc TVS Phoenix, but there is a smaller engine, might be a 110cc. The five spoke alloy wheels are shared with the Star City instead of the six spokes of Phoenix. We believe that the bike might be a facelifted version of the popular commuter Star City 110.
TVS is doing quite well in the Indian two wheeler market with its top seller Star City commuter. However, the current model of the bike was launched in the starting of 2012, which has not received any update for a long time. During this long span of time, other manufacturers launched many updated and new products in the segment, like Bajaj's 3rd gen Discover series and Mahindra Centuro. These products are technically advanced and more appealing.
The new bike might come with an advanced 110cc engine to match-up the performance of its new competitors. It is also expected to share the features of Phoenix like fully digital console and series spring suspension. These updates will help the company to survive in the respective commuter segment, having bikes with segment above features. The company's another upcoming vehicle Scooty Zest was also spied, which is expected to be launched during the Auto Expo. The new commuter bike will be launched soon after it.
This is all we have for now, stay tuned with us to get more updates on the same.
