The Zongshen RC401 and RX401 have features to match the exciting performance

Zongshen, a Chinese bikemaker’s sub-brand Cyclone has launched the RC401 supersport and RX401 adventure bike in its domestic market.

Styling That Means Business
Lots of vents on the fascia, side panels and even at the rear, coupled with the winglets gives the Zongshen Cyclone RC401 an intimidating appearance. Furthermore, the Chinese bikemaker has equipped the RC401 with premium features like all-LED illumination, a Bluetooth-enabled TFT instrument console and even two riding modes.

Its adventure-hungry sibling too isn’t shy about flaunting its “big boy” looks. In fact, the muscular tank with the beefy extensions, compact LED headlight setup and stubby beak with the height-adjustable windshield seem to be inspired by BMW F 850 GS.

But the Zongshen Cyclone RX401 isn’t short on features either. It gets a TFT console with Bluetooth connectivity and navigation, tyre pressure monitor, and two charging sockets. However, there’s a low-end variant available that uses an LCD console.

Performance Identical To The KTM 390 Family
The Cyclone RC401 and RX401 are powered by the same 401cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine belting out 44PS at 9500rpm and 37Nm at 8000rpm. For reference, KTM’s single-cylinder 373.2cc mill dishes out 43.5PS at 9000rpm and 37Nm at 7000rpm. Both the bikes come with a six-speed gearbox mated to a slipper clutch.

Hardware To Complement The Performance
The Zongshen RC401 uses USD fork and a monoshock to handle suspension duties while braking has been entrusted to dual discs up front and a single disc at the rear backed by dual-channel ABS.

Unlike its supersport sibling, the Zonghsen RX401 gets a sophisticated suspension setup consisting of fully-adjustable USD fork and link-type monoshock. Though the braking setup is similar to the RC401, the RX401 uses petal discs and runs on a 19/17-inch wire-spoke wheel setup with tubeless tyres. The bike features a big 20.5-litre fuel tank, and coupled with the decent 190mm ground clearance, venturing beyond the beaten path shouldn’t be an issue.

Though these bikes are unlikely to come to India, their price tag of CNY 28,800 or Rs 3.41 lakh for the RC401 and CNY 31,980 (Rs 3.79 lakh) for the RX 401 make them enticing options for what they have to offer. But if you are looking to buy an ADV with similar performance, you can consider the KTM 390 Adventure, while the KTM RC390 is an alternative to the RC401.
