Here's a beautifully built Yamaha XT500 Scrambler by Purpose Built Moto from Australia. If you’re into bikes and haven’t heard about the Yamaha XT500, we’ll help you get up to speed! The XT500 was a legendary dual-sport bike and is still a very respected bike in the international community. The bike is known for its rugged reliability and off-road prowess. The bike is powered by a ‘bulletproof’ 499cc single-cylinder, four-stroke engine, making about 32PS. This engine, paired with a lightweight frame, made it an excellent off-roader.
What mods have been done to this bike?
The headlight shroud and the front fender are handmade from scratch. The suspension setup is modernised to improve the handling and the stance of the bike: the front fork is lowered, while the rear set is equipped with aftermarket suspension The bike rolls a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear Excel wheelset, wrapped with dirt-specific tyres. The fork covers and engine bash plate are handmade too.
The bike is equipped with a 4.5-inch headlight, tiny indicators, daytime running lights, and a digital dashboard that is controlled by switches mounted on the handlebar. The fuel tank is stock but with new mounts to accommodate the bigger forks at full steering lock. The electronics and battery are housed under the custom side panels.
The bike gets custom side panels to house a bigger battery to power the aftermarket electric start kit. The custom rear fender is mounted on the shortened subframe that has a tiny LED taillight integrated into it. The seat has been changed to with new cushioning and a gripper fabric.
In terms of performance modifications, the engine is kitted with a high-compression big bore kit along with a polished head and oversized valves. It also gets a big aftermarket carburetor, a performance clutch kit, an upgraded charging system, and a custom bend pipe and exhaust.
The livery of the bike is inspired by the old Yamaha dirtbikes that were racing in motocross, it has a classic yellow colour with a speed block design. This bike is a testament to the love for old-school bikes by restoring them to their golden days with a collection of handmade and new parts.
