Triumph is setting up the stage to reveal its next bike, the Tiger 850, for the Indian market. It was teased via Triumph’s social media channels a couple of days ago. The mid-sized ADV will be globally unveiled tomorrow on November 17.
The British manufacturer has managed to keep details under wraps this far so there isn’t much to talk about. What we can confirm is, the 2021 Tiger 850 looks nothing like the bugged-eyed 1050 Sport. In fact, it looks almost identical to the Tiger 900 -- with different badging of course.
Triumph hasn’t revealed any engine specifications, however, EPA filings reveal the upcoming motorcycle will share its engine -- an 888cc, inline-triple motor -- with the Tiger 900. That said, it seems to be a slightly detuned version of the unit as it delivers 94PS -- 1.2PS less than the Tiger 900 -- and 87Nm.
The older Tiger 1050 Sport was pegged as a road-focused motorcycle with long-travel suspension, road-biased tyres, a tall windscreen, and comfortable seats. Expect the new Tiger 850 Sport to carry forward the same DNA.
Just like its off-road-biased brother, the Tiger 850 is likely to make its way to India. Once here, it’ll compete with the BMW F 750 GS and Ducati Multistrada 950.
