In a bid to further strengthen its presence in the Indian two-wheeler market, TVS Motors is planning to capture 20 percent of the market share by 2019 on the back of recently launched products and the new launches planned in near future. Presently, TVS has 12 percent market share of the two-wheeler industry. The recent reports from the company’s officials have confirmed that they are working towards increasing the production capacity of its Hosur and Himachal plants. In the previous fiscal year, the company has produced 24 lac units, which the manufacturer is looking to increase up to 36-42 lac units of two-wheelers by 2019.
The company officials have also confirmed that they aren’t looking for further investment as the present facilities have the capacity to manufacture millions of units. Thanks to the recent launches, the Chennai-based automaker has seen a growth of 3.4 percent from April 2015 to January 2016. In January 2016, TVS Motors witnessed a growth of 12.1 percent and successfully sold 208,485 two-wheelers as compared to 185,997 units in January 2015. The total exports stand at 34,823 units in January 2016 compared to 25,029 same time last year.
The company is further expected to expand its reach with the recently launched Apache RTR 200 4V. This is the highest displacement motorcycle offered by TVS so far and it's ABS version is most likely to arrive by April this year. Apache will definitely play an important role in TVS plans of capturing their market share successfully. Moreover, the company is also working on upgrading its existing products to cater market needs that will further help the automaker to stand strong in the competition.
