From retro roadsters to even big adventure bikes, here’s what we can expect
This year has been quite an eventful one for the two-wheeler space, we got to see many exciting launches from big brands like Royal Enfield, Hero, Yamaha and Bajaj. But the question still remains, what can we expect in the coming months of 2024? In this article, we will be going over all the upcoming bikes and scooters that we can expect this year.
Upcoming Royal Enfield Bikes
Royal Enfield has quite a few surprises planned for us, the first of which is going to be the Guerrilla 450. We know this because it has been confirmed that the bike will be launched by mid-July 2024. The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450, which we earlier thought would be called ‘Hunter 450’, is going to be the second bike in Royal Enfield’s lineup that will come with a liquid-cooled engine (same 450cc Sherpa engine as the Himalayan 450). We think the Guerrilla could be priced around the Rs 2.60 lakh mark (ex-showroom).
The brand has also got the ‘Classic 650 Twin’ name trademarked and this could mean that the Chennai-based manufacturer is working on bringing a 650cc version of the Royal Enfield Classic 350 to India. We expect the Royal Enfield Classic 650 Twin to come to India sometime by August or October 2024. It could be priced around 3.2 lakh (ex-showroom).
With the Classic in the pipeline, we can also expect the brand to come out with the 650cc version of the Bullet as well. The Bullet 650 could be launched likely by late 2024 and come at an expected price of Rs 3 lakh (ex-showroom).
Upcoming Bajaj Launches 2024
Bajaj has been busy since the beginning of 2024, updating a lot of their existing lineup and also launching new bikes, like the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z. But we don’t think the brand is done yet and still has a lot more launches planned.
The first bike that will be launched is the Bajaj CNG bike. Launching on June 18, 2024, we know this for sure as the date was confirmed at the Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z launch event. We expect the CNG bike to come at a price of Rs 80,000 (ex-showroom).
Now, coming to the Pulsar NS400Z. This bike has been the biggest Pulsar yet but what we found interesting is that Bajaj chose to add a ‘Z’ in its name. This likely indicates that there could be other variants in the works, something that was also confirmed by Rajiv Bajaj in an interview.
Currently, the Pulsar NS400Z is the cheapest 400cc segment bike in the market, but there are still a few areas where there can be some improvements made. As of now, it comes with an LCD console with a dot-matrix inset for navigation. It also misses out on a radial tyre at the front. So we can expect the upcoming variant to bring more premium features such as a TFT console and a radial front tyre.
Moving on, another interesting bike we think Bajaj will likely launch in 2024 is the Pulsar N125. The bike has been spotted testing multiple times and could be launched by October or November, so right around the festive season. Currently, competitors like TVS and Hero already have sporty 125cc commuter offerings, so the Pulsar N125 could fill in this gap for Bajaj.
We expect the bike to come with a new engine as Bajaj’s current 125cc engines are quite dated and haven't seen any changes for a long time. The bike could be priced at around Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom).
Coming to the EV front, Bajaj has a few things planned, the first of which is the launch of a new, more affordable Chetak variant in June 2024. This variant of the Chetak has been spied testing multiple times and the images have revealed quite a bit. The Bajaj electric scooter will come with a physical key and the same LCD console as the previous-generation Chetak.
To keep costs in check, Bajaj has given the e-scooter steel wheels and drum brakes at both ends. It could likely come at an ex-showroom price of around Rs 1 lakh or maybe even lower, including the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS) subsidy.
2024 KTM 390 Adventure And KTM 390 Enduro
We had seen many spy shots of the KTM 390 Adventure and the 390 Adventure R, which is likely to be called the 390 Enduro. Both bikes represent a radical change over the current 390 Adventure. The new 2024 390 Adventure features a rally bike-like design with a tall windscreen and rally tower, while the Enduro appears to be even more off-road focused.
Both bikes will likely get the new 399cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that we have seen on the 2024 KTM 390 Duke, but with a different tuning to suit the ADV character. We expect a launch that is close to late-2024, with maybe an unveiling at EICMA 2024. We expect the 390 Adventure to come at a price of around Rs 3.8 lakh and the Enduro to cost around Rs 3.6 lakh (both ex-showroom).
Upcoming Triumph Bikes
Triumph is working on a third bike based on the 400cc platform called the Triumph Thruxton 400, a cafe racer-style motorcycle. The bike had been spied testing in the past and the images have revealed that the bike will come with a fairing and clip-on handlebars. We believe it could be launched by late-2024 and could come at a price similar to the Scrambler 400 X which costs Rs 2,64,496 (ex-showroom). The brand could likely unveil it at EICMA 2024, if we are lucky.
Another bike that the British manufacturer will likely be launching in India soon is the 2024 Triumph Daytona 660. The bike is now listed on Triumph's India website with prices to be announced. The bike will be powered by a 660cc liquid-cooled inline-3 engine which produces 95PS and 69Nm. We can expect a price that is around Rs 9.20 lakh (ex-showroom)
Hero Xtreme 210R
The Hero Xtreme 210R is likely to be launched by the festive season this year (October-November). The bike will be a streetfighter offering that will use the Karizma XMR’s 210cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine. It could likely come at a price of Rs 1.60 lakh (ex-showroom).
Yamaha MT-09
Yamaha could likely bring the MT-09 to India and this was revealed at a dealership event recently. The Yamaha MT-09 is powered by a 847cc liquid-cooled 3-cylinder cross-plane engine that makes 115PS and 87.5Nm, making it one of the most powerful offerings in the Japanese manufacturer’s lineup. The bike is expected to be launched by October or November 2024 and could come at a price that is around Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom).
BMW R 1300 GS
BMW will likely be launching the BMW R 1300 GS in India. This new bike replaces the BMW R 1250 GS and comes with quite a few changes both to its design and underpinnings. The R 1300 GS will also be a more potent off-roader than the R 1250 GS. The bike is expected to be launched by mid-June, with a price that could be around Rs 25-30 lakh (ex-showroom).
BGauss RUV350 Electric Scooter
BGauss will be launching its new electric scooter on June 25, 2024. The scooter will be called the RUV350 and judging by the teasers, it looks like it will have a retro design. It will likely be positioned between the BGauss C12, the brand’s entry-level e-scooter, and the BGauss D12, its flagship offering.
