We all like upgrading ourselves in every way possible from time to time. And as the new year is close, if you're planning to upgrade your bike, here are some of the options that you can consider.
Royal Enfield Hunter
Royal Enfield has been extensively testing the Hunter 350, which is expected to be priced at Rs 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the most affordable model in the company's J-platform lineup. The Hunter 350 is a more urban focused alternative to the Classic 350 and is likely to share most of its features with the popular roadster. Powering the upcoming RE Hunter 350 is a 349cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that makes 20.4PS and 27Nm.
Royal Enfield Scram
Royal Enfield was also recently spotted testing the Scram, which is expected to arrive in early 2022. It’s likely to be priced around Rs 1.95 lakh (ex-showroom), which makes it Rs 15,000 more affordable than the Himalayan. The affordable version of the Himalayan was spied without any camouflage in a grey paint scheme. The Scram is powered by the same 411cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that makes 24.3PS and 32Nm.
Yezdi Range
Yezdi is all set to make a power-packed comeback with three new motorcycles in the Indian market on 13 January 2022. The range will comprise of an adventure bike, a scrambler model named the Roadking Scrambler, and a cruiser bike. The cruiser motorcycle was recently teased by the brand on its social media pages while the ADV and the scrambler model have been spotted during an advertorial shoot.. These upcoming Yezdi models are likely to be powered by the same 334cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that we have witnessed on the Jawa Perak, and will be priced attractively.
TVS Retron
TVS is expected to launch a neo-retro scrambler by May 2022 at around Rs 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The Hosur-based brand was also spotted testing the bike, which is likely to be named the Retron. The upcoming neo-retro scrambler could be powered by a mild-hybrid tech engine.
Honda CB350 Cruiser
Honda India’s President Atsushi Ogata recently spoke to a media house and revealed that the brand will be launching multiple models in the future on the existing 350cc platform. While we already have the H'ness and the CB350RS, the brand might launch a cruiser motorcycle based on the same, to rival the Royal Enfield Meteor 350.
Honda CB300R
At the India Bike Week 2021, Honda unveiled the CB300R BS6 for the Indian market. The neo-retro roadster will make its debut in Jan 2022 and could be priced at Rs 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The CB300R BS6 will be powered by a 286cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that now produces 31.1PS and 27.5Nm.
Benelli Leoncino 250
The Benelli Leoncino 250 was available in its BS4 avatar in India, which was then discontinued with the arrival of the stringent BS6 emission norms. However, Benelli has yet again unveiled its Euro 5 model globally which features new graphics and paint scheme. We expect the brand to launch the entry-level scrambler in India in the first quarter of 2022.
Kawasaki W175
Kawasaki seems to be all set to launch its new neo-retro roadster in the Indiana market. The W175 was spotted testing last year, and we expect Kawasaki to launch it in the first half of 2022 at a price tag of Rs 1.75 lakh (ex-showroom). The key to this pricing will be how much localisation the Japanese brand is able to achieve.
Hero XPulse 200 Rally
Hero recently gave a much-needed update to the XPulse 200 which now gets a 4-valve setup for its 199.6cc engine. Meanwhile, there's another XPulse model that takes off-roading to the next level altogether, called the XPulse Rally 200, which is kept exclusively for race teams and isn’t road legal. However, regular buyers can get the standard XPulse 200 4V and opt for the rally kit that includes a taller front suspension, new seat, knobby tyres, and extended gear lever, flatter seat and a few more goodies, all for a total of Rs 46,000.
Bajaj Avenger 250
The Bajaj Avenger is among the most popular cruisers on sale in India and it’s high time that it receives a much needed update. Bajaj can utilise the new 249cc motor from the Pulsar 250 twins or opt for the more advanced liquid-cooled motor as seen on the Dominar 250. We hope it's the latter as that motor offers more grunt and could suit the cruiser's characteristics better.
Bajaj Pulsar NS250
With the Pulsar 250s entering the fray, the Pulsar NS 200 does look a bit dated in terms of design and features. We feel the NS 200 should undergo a transformation visually and can be powered by the same 248.77cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that we have already witnessed on the Dominar 250. If Bajaj does take this path, the Pulsar NS 250 will be its flagship streetbike and will compete against the likes of the Suzuki Gixxer 250 and the Yamaha FZ 25.
