The Italian auto major Piaggio is all set to bring a more premium, sporty model from its iconic scooter brand- Vespa. The company has already stocked the Vespa S 125 in its showrooms and ready to launch it on 4th March, 2014. The scooter is expected to be priced higher than the existing LX 125 and VX 125 models in India, at around Rs. 75,000 – 76,000.
Vespa S 125 was recently showcased at the 12th Auto Expo, which was looking quite impressive with its sparkling Orange paint job. The scooter gets a sportier design than the other offerings in India, with larger dimensions. It also gets a rectangular shaped headlamp and a retro style twin pod instrument console with all the tale tell lights below the pods.
Vespa S 125 shares the same 125cc, forced air cooled engine with 3-valve configuration that of the LX and VX models, which churns out a maximum power of 10.06 PS and a peak torque of 10.6Nm. CVT provides an smooth, automatic transmission with a great pick-up. Five spoke alloys gels with its styling, in which front comes with a 200mm disc brake to provide better safety and control. Although, Vespa S 125 misses the telescopic forks at the front like other model from the company, suspension system is quite satisfactory.
Vespa S 125 doesn't has any conpitition in India for now, however, the scooter has to overcome with a small group of buyers of scooters in this price range in India.
