The Fascino 125 Fi is BS6-compliant and marks Yamaha's debut in the 125cc scooter segment
Yamaha has created shockwaves by unexpectedly entering the 125cc scooter segment with its new BS6-compliant Fascino 125 Fi. Equally surprisingly, it has discontinued its entire 110cc scooter lineup, presumably because it wasn't feasible to make them meet BS6 norms without significantly driving up costs. So here are the most important details about the new Fascino 125:
A Brand New And Modern Engine
The all-new 125cc motor is BS6-compliant, fuel-injected and produces 8.2PS and 9.7Nm. These figures place it 1PS and 1.6Nm higher than the 110cc Fascino, but it still lags behind most other 125cc scooters, including the BS6-compliant Activa 125. The Fascino also features a silent start system thanks to an ACG starter, as well a stop-start feature for increased fuel efficiency in the city, just like the new Activa. The claimed fuel efficiency figure is 58kmpl.
A Wardrobe Makeover
Yamaha has completely redesigned the Fascino while still retaining the neo retro vibe of the scooter. Various chrome inserts have been thrown in and the bodywork itself looks more sculpted than before. A distinctive V-shaped tail light stands out and the Fascino looks quite handsome overall.
Revised Ergos
The seating position has been made more comfortable on the Fascino. Yamaha has raised the handlebar by 20mm and pulled it 18mm closer to the rider, resulting in less of a reach. The seat has also become wider than before, giving you more space and support.
New Cycle Parts
For the first time, the Fascino now also gets the option of alloy wheels and a front disc brake. A 12-inch/10-inch wheel combo is employed, and steel wheel, drum brake variants are also on offer. Suspension hardware remains unchanged, but the Fascino now tips the scales at 99kg, making it 4kg lighter than the 110cc Fascino and also the lightest scooter in its class.
The Moolah
It goes without question that an increase in displacement will also be accompanied by a price hike. The new Fascino 125 starts at Rs 66,430 for the STD Drum variant and goes all the way up to Rs 69,930 for the DLX Disc variant. A total of four variants and seven colour options are on offer, with the red and yellow options available only on disc brake variants.

STD Drum | 66,430 |
STD Disc | 68,930 |
