Yamaha is all set to start a new chapter of retro motorcycling tomorrow with the launch of the Yamaha FZ-X in the country. It has the potential to be the most affordable neo-retro bike on sale in India. Take a look at our price analysis here.
The Yamaha FZ-X will be based on the proven FZ-S Fi/FZ Fi platform, so most of its mechanicals will be shared with the two streetfighters. You can read all about the bike, including the booking details, specifications, features, design and underpinnings in our pre-launch wrapup here.

Currently, Royal Enfield enjoys its dominance in the 350cc segment, and the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 is the most affordable motorcycle if you want something retro. Even though the Yamaha FZ-X is not a hardcore retro bike, it will appeal to those who want an affordable 150cc classic-style motorcycle. So Yamaha has the potential to carve a niche for itself in a segment below the Bullet 350.
We had earlier expected Yamaha to bring the R15 V3-based Yamaha XSR155 to India but it looks like the Japanese brand is offering something specifically developed for our country. Nevertheless, we hope the upcoming motorcycle strengthens Yamaha’s position in the 150cc segment. Stay tuned to BikeDekho for the launch updates!
