The 125cc scooter gets a sharp looking fascia, extra features and weighs just 97kg
Yamaha has announced the release of a new scooter, the Cygnus GT Deluxe Edition in China.
The Deluxe Edition gets a new face with an LED headlight up front giving it a sharp and aggressive look.
It comes equipped with a 125cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine pumping out 8.42PS and 9.7Nm, figures which are slightly lesser than the 125cc scooters on sale in India. It gets a telescopic fork up front along with a monoshock absorber at the rear.
A disc brake at the front coupled with a drum brake at the rear take care of the braking department. The scooter comes shod with 100/90-10 tyres. The Obsidian Black colour scheme comes with funky golden alloys. An added rear inner fender should make it that much more convenient to drive the scooter around on rainy days.
As for the features, the Cygnus GT Deluxe Edition gets a new, fully digital LCD instrument cluster, equipped with an Eco indicator to maximise its fuel efficiency. Unfortunately, it misses out on any sort of connectivity.
A kerb weight of 97kg along with a seat height of 750mm make it easily accessible for riders of all sizes. An on-par fuel tank capacity of 5.1L should give it a decent range as well. The Deluxe Edition has an extra party trick up its sleeve in the form of a 12V charging port, adding to the practicality of the scooter. That said, the puny 106mm of ground clearance could be an issue.
While the standard version of Cygnus GT retails at 8,980 Yuan (approximately Rs 1,02,946) , the Deluxe Edition commands a nominal premium over it, retailing at 9,580 Yuan (approximately Rs 1,09,824).
That said, the chances of these scooters making their way to the Indian market are very low. So if you’re looking for a 125cc scooter, Yamaha offers scooters like the Fascino 125 and RayZR 125 in India. If you want to look beyond, you could even have a look at the likes of TVS Jupiter 125, NTorq 125, Suzuki Access 125, Honda Activa 125, and Yamaha Fascino 125.
