Yamaha has launched the MT-15 Limited Edition at this year’s Bangkok International Motor Show in Thailand. Priced at THB 98,500 (around Rs 2.32 lakh), it costs as much as the standard variant. The Limited Edition features a unique turquoise blue colour scheme with black highlights and neon green coloured wheels.
Such a bright colour scheme may not be everyone’s cup of tea but it certainly stands out from the crowd. The new MT logo on the fuel tank extensions coupled with the already-existing gold finished fork gives the bike a sporty appeal. Interestingly, the Indonesian-spec motorcycle gets a slightly different switchgear compared to the one sold here.
Apart from the cosmetic update, there are no other mechanical changes. It also gets premium components like an inverted front fork and a lighter aluminium swingarm. At 133kg kerb, the motorcycle weighs a whole 5kg less than the India-spec bike. But on the flip side, it gets a 155mm ground clearance compared to the generous 170mm in the Indian bike. That said, the seat height in both the bikes are the same at 810mm. The Thailand-spec bike also lacks ABS whereas the India-spec version gets a single-channel ABS.

While Yamaha Thailand hasn’t revealed the power and torque figure, we reckon it makes the same output as the Indonesian-spec bike, at 19.3PS and 14.7Nm. In comparison, the India-spec BS6-compliant version makes 18.5PS and 13.9Nm.
It is unlikely that Yamaha will bring this colour variant here. However, the India-spec bike does come in a similarly striking colour option called Ice Fluo-Vermillion. This variant gets white and black dual-tone colour scheme on the bodywork and red alloy wheels. It is priced at Rs 1,39,900 (ex-showroom Delhi), making it Rs 1,000 more expensive than the standard colour variants.
