Here is how the new MT-15 fares against the baby Duke in pics
Yamaha has finally launched the 2022 iteration of the MT-15, its popular naked motorcycle. The new MT-15 Version 2.0 gets a bunch of upgrades and new features but also misses out on a few. Let’s find out how it fares against its Austrian rival, the KTM 125 Duke.
Both the bikes get muscular styling and live up to the naked motorcycle identity with a sporty body design. While the MT-15 gets a bold and aggressive appeal, the 125 Duke opts for a more sleek and sharper styling.
The 2022 MT-15 gets an attractive and radical looking LED headlight setup, whereas the 125 Duke gets one large halogen unit.
In terms of features, both bikes get a digital instrument cluster displaying different kinds of information. However, the MT-15 Version 2.0 is Bluetooth-enabled and shows call, e-mail and SMS alerts and maintenance reminders, something that the 125 Duke misses out on.
Powering the new Yamaha MT-15 is a 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with VVA, producing 18.4PS and 14.1Nm. It is paired to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.
On the other hand, the 125 Duke is powered by a 124.7cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine producing 15PS and 12Nm. This engine is also mated to a six-speed gearbox.
Both the bikes are suspended on a USD fork up front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking duties on both bikes are handled by discs on both ends, paired with single-channel ABS. However, dual-channel ABS on the MT-15 would have made it a more wholesome package.
The newly launched Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0 is priced at Rs 1,59,900, whereas the KTM 125 Duke is slightly more expensive at Rs 1,70,630 (both ex-showroom Delhi). The 125 Duke even though a smaller displacement motorcycle is priced higher, making the MT-15 a more attractive package.
