Yamaha posted 48 pc sales growth last month

Japanese based auto maker Yamaha's Indian arm, India Yamaha Motor has posted sales of 48.02 per cent with 25,766 units last month. The company had sold 17,407 units in the same month last year. YES! Yamaha is also giving a excellent performance in the domestic market. It has registered sales at 17.80 per cent to 16,313 units by February, 2010, compared with 13,848 units in the same month last year. Yamaha Motor company is targeting to sell 3.1 lakh units in the domestic market. It is also focusing to more than double its exports to 1.5 lakh units this year. Company's domestic sales keep to be strong for our premium segment products such as Yamaha FZ-16, Yamaha YZF-R15, Yamaha Fazer and Yamaha FZ-S. India Yamaha Motor Chief Executive Officer and MD Yukimine Tsuji said, "These models have also achieved overwhelming response in the overseas market like Sri Lanka, Nepal, Columbia and Bangladesh. Yamaha Motor is also considering to introduce its new sporty and stylish 'Yamaha SZ sport' bike by June 2010. The company has not yet announced price tag of the product. According to some websites reports that this upcoming model is to be priced at Rs.55,000. During last month, a jump of over two-fold, the company exported 9,453 units as against 3,559 units in the year ago period.
