Yamaha R25 promo video released; India launch next year

This year, Yamaha R25 has been the most trending topic in the two-wheeler industry. After creating a long suspense, the Japanese manufacturer finally launched the bike in Indonesia previous month. Now, the company has released a promotional video of the machine, which infuses the R-DNA in it. This might be a preparation before start exporting the bike in other countries, which is reported to be start from next week.

Reports says that the company will export the Indonesia made Yamaha R25 in 16 different countries including the home country Japan. The date 7th July, 2014, which is the 40th anniversary of Yamaha Motors' operations in Indonesia, has been selected to kick start the export. India is not in the list of the countries for now, where the R25s are going to be exported. However, India is still on the cards and the machine is expected to enter the Indian market next year.

 

 

In the promo video, a rider on the R25 is making laps on a track and the editor describing different features of the bike, which reflects its R-DNA. The list of these features include 110/70-17 and 140/70-17 M/C front and rear tyre respectively; 2-pot caliper, 298mm floating-mount front disc and 1-pot caliper, 220mm rear disc brakes; steel diamond type frame; equal front and rear weight distribution with 166kg of wet weight; monocross type rear suspension and 41mm telescopic front forks; multi-functional digital-analog instrument panel; 35.5bhp of maximum power at 12,000rpm and a peak torque of 22.6Nm at 10,000rpm; Offset, DiASil cylinder with forged aluminium pistons and carburized connecting rods; electronic fuel injection technology; sporty short muffler and aerodynamic design.

The bike looks inspired by the typical R series design sporting a new 249cc, parallel-twin, high revving engine. This highly advance mill goes upto 14,000rpm and claimed to deliver best-in-class performance. Top speed of the bike is reported to be over 170kmph, which will be definitely under standard conditions. As we mentioned that the bike will be launched in India next year, its expected to be on sale here by the end of first quarter.

Competitors of the bike will be Honda CBR250R, Hyosung GT250R and Kawasaki Ninja 300, while the upcoming rivals are Hero HX250R, KTM RC 390 and Bajaj Pulsar SS400. So, the company might introduce the R25 with a very competitive price tag between Rs. 2.0-2.5 lakh.
