The Japanese two wheeler manufacturer, Yamaha Motor is finally ready to unveil its most awaited quarter litre bike- Yamaha R25 on 20th May, 2014. the company is proposing this new model as the baby YZR-M1, which is their MotoGP machine. The company has already showcased the concept model of the bike during the Tokyo Motor Show 2013 and the Indian Auto Expo 2014, which was looking like a scaled model of the Yamaha YZR-M1. However, the spy shots of the bike's production version says something else.
According to the latest spy pictures, Yamaha R25 production model looks like a better replica of the YZF-R1 than the YZF-R15. Every element of the bike including the headlamps, fairing, rear panels etc. seems based on the lines of R1. The bike will be powered by a 249cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin engine, which is expected to churn out a maximum power around 30bhp. The engine will ome mated with a six-speed gearbox for better control and get the electronic fuel injection system for better performance and economy.
Yamaha R25 will be introduced as a daily purpose superbike, hence gets all the feature of a supesport motorcycle including clip-on handlebars, split seat and a clear analog-digital instrument console. Front of the bike will be supported by telescopic forks, while the rear will get advanced, adjustable mono-shock suspension with aluminium swing arm. Unique split-spoke alloy wheels enhances the sportiness of the bike and comes equiped with a disc brake on both the ends. The company might also provide ABS as optional equipment with the bike.
Yamaha R25 is expected to be priced under Rs. 2 lakh and will compete with the existing and upcoming offerings in the segment including, Honda CBR250R, Kawasaki Ninja 300, Hyosung GT250R, KTM Duke 390, Hero MotoCorp HX250R, Bajaj Pulsar SS400 and KTM RC 390.
