On 11th August, 2015, the auto enthusiasts countrywide were debating over Yamaha R3's success due to its high price in comparison to its rivals. However, the Japanese quarter-litre superstar proved them wrong and showed a majestic sales in the first month of its inception. As per reports, Yamaha managed to sell a total of 140 units of R3 during August 2015 that seems pretty impressive in contrast to the company's target of selling 200 units per month.

Talking of its closest and biggest rivals, the Ninja 300 saw a mere 74 unit sales while the Kwacker naked player – Z250 witnessed just a couple of units sold in the month of August. Going one more month back, July 2015 was a bit pleasing for the Ninja 300 showing a total sale of 74 units. However, it was the renowned Austrian auto maker who left everyone in this segment behind, that too by a huge margin. Yes, KTM registered a whopping 729 unit sales in August along with selling 532 units in July 2015. With this, the company showed an impressive growth month-to-month in selling its 390cc duo – the 390 Duke and RC 390.

Kawasaki sold an average of 90 units per month of Ninja 300 in the last financial year and with 140 units of Yamaha R3 sold in its debut month, it seems that the newest tuning fork from Yamaha has definitely attracted a lot of buyers from Kawasaki's side. Ninja 300 despite being a fabulous motorcycle is looking faded these days and with the arrival of Yamaha R3, it will be really interesting to see the future of this bike. It should also be noted that due to the initial hype, there is definitely a positive impact on the CKD-arrived R3 sales. In order to see the exact and real market stats, a wait of two or three months would be enough and that will show us how Yamaha's decision went on pricing the bike so sharply.
