Yamaha Motor India Pvt. Ltd. is a bit biases towards its youngest child, the scooter Ray. Yamaha has been showering special love on Ray. And now, ever more. As per the reports and declarations by the company, of the total sales of 10,000 units this month, 35% owes to Yamaha Ray. And to make the scoot this popular, the company left no stone unturned. Yamaha had started a campaign, sui generis, to promote Ray on 1st of November. Six women commuted through various public places, like schools, colleges, shopping areas for nine days on Yamaha Ray to publicize the scooter. The efforts have really paid off well, making Ray gain the highest sales numbers for Yamaha.
Yamaha Ray was launched few months back, in September, of this year and around 25,000 units have been booked since then, out of which almost 20,000 units have already been delivered to the customers.
Other than Ray, other models that sold really well are the stylish Yamaha FZ and SZ series of bikes. Together, both these models have chugged around 55% sales. Some by Yamaha R15, the remaining by the commuter bikes. The sales figures, however, do not seem to satisfy the company. Yamaha had expected far more better sales than this, almost a 15 percent higher. And the National Business Head, Sales, Yamaha Motors India Pvt. Ltd. agree to having recorded lower than expected sales.
Around 4000 units were sold by Yamaha is September, which reached to 12,000 units in October, thanks to Ray.
