The Indian scooter market is growing by unexpected growth and the year 2010 has recorded 50.54 per cent growth with sales of 19.6 lakh units. And the scooter market it dominated by Honda Activa which is a reliable and super performer product by Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India. After seen this surprising growth in the scooter segment, other Indian two-wheeler majors are also interested to bring their scooters in India.
India Yamaha Motor is another firm which is planning to launch powerful scooters in the domestic market by next year, the scooters will have to take on Honda Activa, Honda Aviator, Mahindra Duro, Rodeo, TVS Wego and Hero Honda Pleasure which are most popular unisex scooters in this world’s second largest market.
One more amazing news that this new Yamaha scooter will be produced at Indian land and the company is going to invest 10 crore in its Surajpur plant in Uttar Pradesh. With this investment, the company is to set up the body assembly line at the plant that will begin production by early next year.
India Yamaha Motor Pvt Ltd CEO and Managing Director Hiroyuki Suzuki stated that we want to have strong presence and Yamaha Scooters will be greatly to achieve this goal. The upcoming scooters will carry an array of features, sleek and stylish body design along with impressive appearance. And these upcoming scooters would include Yamaha BWS, Yamaha Neo, Yamaha Fino, Yamaha Jupiter, Yamaha Nouvo or Yamaha Spark.
The company is doing well in the motorcycle segment and getting buzz response through its flagship bike models like Yamaha SZ, Yamaha FZs, Yamaha Fazer, Yamaha R15 etc. Now with the launch of scooter, Yamaha is looking to increase sales volumes in India. In the meanwhile it is also interested to launch electric bikes in India.
