Yamaha to launch a 125cc scooter in India by mid-2015

Yamaha Motor India seems to launch a new 125cc scooter (codename 04X) in India by mid-2015. The scooter will be manufactured at the company's upcoming manufacturing plant in Chennai from the April-2015 in volumes of 1,20,000 units per annum. The facility will be started in the November this year with the production of Alpha scooter.
The scooter will be based on the Yamaha's recently unvieled scooter in Vietnam, which has been christened as Nozza Grande (codename 08X). It is a women specific automatic scooter propelled by a 125cc, air-cooled motor, which is powered by a fuel injection system. The scooter claims to deliver a good and eco friendly performance along with a great mileage of 54kmpl. The scooter is specially designed for the Asian market and will be manufactured in the Thailand as well.
Codename of the upcoming 125cc scooter from Yamaha Motor India also hints that it will be derived from the family of Nozza Grande. Currently, the company is selling only Ray, Ray Z and Alpha in the highly competitive 110cc scooter segment, while the 125cc segment is growing rapidly now. Offerings in the segment are Honda Activa 125, Suzuki Swish and Access, Mahinda Rodeo and Duro, Vespa VX 125, LX 125 and S, which will be the competitors of the upcoming Yamaha.
