Yamaha to provide skill training and placement to underprivileged Youth

Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. is poised to adopt Government Technical Institutes and to partner NGOs in various regions of India as part of its continued CSR initiatives. In this training program, the Company imparts free training to youngsters and bears all training related expenses. Yamaha now plans to launch Yamaha Training Schools (YTS) at each Yamaha Technical Academy (YTA) in Surajpur, Kolkata, Pune and Bangalore to promote and encourage economically weaker youth to learn Yamaha technology and get employed at Yamaha dealerships. It will partner with reputed NGOs to launch YTS’s with Yamaha Technical Academy certification.

In this connection, the Company has signed a MoU with Navjyoti India Foundation (NIF) – a not-for-profit organization working with marginalized sections (under the visionary leadership of Magsaysay Award winner Dr Kiran Bedi) to help them live a dignified life of self-reliance. NIF’s ‘B School for Marginalized’ is a unique program launched in Delhi and NCR to implement ‘Right to Skills’ model to bridge the skills gap between market demand and supply of trained people. The main aim of the ‘B school for Marginalized’ project is empowerment of unemployed youth and women to become socially-driven change agents for nation-building.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Jun Nakata, Director-Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd said, “Working with and investing in the less privileged youth is one of our ways of being a socially responsible company. We are looking at making a lasting impact on the lives of these young people by making them self-reliant. With the present MoU we will develop a synergetic partnership with NIF thereby helping deserving students find employment in the automobile sector via impartment of technical training and education. The success of this model will facilitate its replication in other regions across India, thereby ensuring the company’s contribution in some small measure towards the national goal of inclusive development.”

Yamaha seeks to ensure that skills imparted by NIF’s institute keep pace with the industry’s technically skilled manpower demands. This will be done by screening the right candidates from NIF and providing them an opportunity of a job-oriented technical training course in Yamaha Motorcycle Repair and Servicing in Yamaha Technical Academy (YTA) Bronze and Silver levels through Yamaha Training School (YTS).
