Triumph has launched the new Speed T4 if you’re looking for another option in the same price range, you can look at the Royal Enfield Classic 350. The new Classic 350 goes up against the 2024 Jawa 42 FJ, which was launched recently. Here's a detailed image comparison between the two.

Royal Enfield Classic 350 price in India

The cheapest 2024 Royal Enfield Classic 350 variant price is Rs 1,99,500 for the Heritage variant. The Heritage Premium variant is priced at Rs 2,04,000, the Signals variant is priced at Rs 2,16,000, the Dark variant is priced at Rs 2,25,000 and the Chrome variant is priced at Rs 2,30,000.

A few variants of the 2023 model are also available, including the Redditch variant, which is priced at Rs 1,93,080, and the Halcyon variant, which costs Rs 1,95,919 (all prices ex-showroom Chennai).

How many variants are in Classic 350?

The Classic 350 is available in 7 variants: Heritage, Heritage Premium, Signals, Dark and Chrome. The Heritage is available in two colour options: Madras Red and Jodhpur Blue, the Heritage Premium is available in the Medallion Bronze colour option while the Signals variant is available in the Commando Sand colour option. The Dark variant gets two colour options: Gun Grey and Stealth Black while the Chrome variant gets an Emerald colour option. The Redditch variant gets two colour options: Redditch Red and Redditch Grey while the Halcyon variant gets two colour options: Halcyon Black and Halcyon Green.

What is the top variant of Classic 350?

The Classic 350’s top variant is called Chrome. It is priced at Rs 2,30,000 (ex-showroom Chennai) and gets an Emerald colour option.

Is the Royal Enfield Classic 350 pickup good?

The Royal Enfield Classic 350 offers decent pickup for its segment, with 0-60kmph taking 6.32 seconds. The torquey nature of the engine along with well-spaced gearing makes it easy to ride at low speeds in higher gears. The Classic 350 0-100kmph pickup time is 22.95 seconds, which isn’t exactly quick. However, what makes the Classic 350 special is the relaxed nature of the engine, making it ideal for laid-back riding in the city or on the highway.

What is the mileage of the Classic 350?

The Classic 350’s real-world tested mileage is 41.93kmpl in the city and 38.46kmpl on the highway. These mileage figures are pretty good for a 350cc bike. The engine produces enough torque at low revs, resulting in effortless city riding. This is one of the reasons why Classic 350 city mileage is better than highway mileage.

Is the Royal Enfield Classic 350 heavy?

At 195kg kerb, the Classic 350 is a heavy bike. You can particularly feel the weight of the Classic 350 when you’re moving it out of a parking lot or when you’re trying to physically manoeuvre the bike over uneven surfaces. It also takes some time to get used to parking the bike using a centre stand. That said, once you start riding, the weight feels easily manageable as the chassis is so nicely balanced. You won’t really feel like you’re riding a heavy bike as long as you keep moving.

Is Classic 350 good for city riding?

The weight of the bike along with the heavy clutch may not be ideal for riding on roads with lots of traffic. But the riding posture is very comfortable, and the engine doesn’t really heat up all that much. With just a little getting used to, you can use Classic 350 for daily rides without much trouble.

Is Classic 350 suitable for long rides?

The Classic 350 is great for long rides as long as you’re willing to cruise on the highways at around 90kmph. That’s the speed at which the Classic feels the most stress-free and refined. The seat is spacious, and the riding position is pretty relaxed, helping you do long rides with ease. Another important aspect to note is that the engine can also do occasional bursts of 110+kmph when pushed.

What are the best Classic 350 features?

Though the Royal Enfield Classic 350 is a retro bike, it still gets basic features like an analogue speedometer with a digital screen that shows the fuel level, odometer and trip meter readings, service reminder and clock. The tripper navigation pod is available as standard on the Dark and Chrome variants while the rest of the variants get it as an accessory. The Redditch and Halcyon variants get single-channel ABS while the rest of the variants get dual-channel ABS as standard. The USB charging port is available as standard for all the variants. The retro roadster gets all LED lighting.

Royal Enfield Classic 350 best accessories with price:

The best Classic 350 accessories for city rides would be a basic crash guard and a pillion backrest (if you’re riding with one often). The cheapest official crash guard for Classic 350 is the Black Trapezium or Octagon crash guard, priced at Rs 2,950. Both are made out of steel tubes with dual powder coating for rust resistance. The pillion backrest is priced at Rs 1,050. This significantly improves the comfort of the pillion rider by supporting the lower back. It also gives the pillion a sense of safety as it prevents them from sliding back while accelerating hard.

Is the Classic 350 worth buying?

If you’re looking for a retro bike that looks properly old-school but feels every bit modern while riding, the Classic 350 is one of the best 350cc bikes in India. Its chilled-out nature inspires you to enjoy the journey rather than the destination.

What is the best alternative to the Classic 350?

The best alternative to the Royal Enfield Classic 350 is the Jawa 350. It also looks equally retro-gorgeous and comes with a variety of colour schemes, some even with alloy wheels and tubeless tyres. While it looks super retro, it offers better performance than the Classic 350 but isn’t as comfortable as the Classic. If you don’t mind it and are looking for a retro bike that is fairly quick, the Jawa 350 is a great bike to buy.

Classic 350 Expert Review

BikeDekho Experts
In summary, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 stands as a well-built and reliable motorcycle with a timeless design. It presents an attractive option for riders seeking both comfort and style. Its limitations include its weight and somewhat lack of power.

Overview

Having dominated the sub-400cc classic motorcycle segment for over 12 years, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 was completely overhauled in 2021. This iconic model has long been the cornerstone of the Royal Enfield lineup, and the update breathed new life into it.

This new-generation Royal Enfield Classic 350 aims to captivate a new generation of buyers while maintaining its competitive edge in the market. The model is available in multiple colours and is priced between Rs 1,99,500 and Rs 2,30,000. Two variants of the older model is still available. The Redditch variant is priced at Rs 1,93,080 and the Halcyon variant costs Rs 1,95,919 (ex-showroom Delhi).

Design

The new Classic 350 closely resembles the older model in design. Royal Enfield's designers have preserved the old-school styling of the previous generation model. However, a closer glance at the new Classic 350 reveals a wider fuel tank shape, a hinged fuel cap, mildly redesigned seats, a redesigned taillight, and broader mudguards.

The Royal Enfield Classic 350 now gets a part-digital instrument cluster with upgraded switchgear that looks notably more premium.

The 2024 Classic 350 is available in 7 colour schemes: Madras Red, Jodhpur Blue, Medallion Bronze, Commando Sand, Gun Grey, Stealth Black and Emerald. Additionally, the older model's Redditch Red, Redditch Grey, Halcyon Black and Halcyon Green are also available with a single-channel ABS option.

Engine, Mileage & Performance

The Classic 350 was the second motorcycle from Royal Enfield to get the new-generation 349cc J-Series engine. Paired with a 5-speed gearbox, this single-cylinder, air-cooled, 349cc engine produces 20.2 PS @ 6,100 rpm of maximum power and 27 Nm of maximum torque.

Enhanced engine refinement is the first noticeable improvement, which results in a smoother ride. Additionally, the new bike boasts better acceleration, minimal vibrations, and sharper throttle response. It also has improved low- and mid-range performance, making commuting more enjoyable and effortless.

The clutch action is lighter, and the 5-speed gearbox functions well with much slicker shifts than before. The new Classic 350 can reach triple-digit speeds, but it is most comfortable cruising around 90kmph.

The exhaust note may not be as thumpy as the 346cc engine of the previous-generation model, but it is still a pleasant and deep sound. You can expect around 41.93 kmpl of fuel efficiency while riding through city traffic and 38.46 kmpl on open highways (as tested).

Handling & Ride Quality

In addition to the new engine, the Classic 350 also has a revamped chassis. Despite maintaining the same kerb weight as its predecessor, the new chassis enhances the bike's agility, making it feel lighter and more manoeuvrable in traffic.

The revised suspension setup has a thicker front telescopic fork with more suspension travel and adjusted spring rates for the dual-sided hydraulic coil springs. As a result, the new Classic 350 rides well on uneven surfaces and absorbs bumps and undulations at lower speeds. However, riders should exercise caution at higher speeds.

Furthermore, the ground clearance has increased to 170mm compared to the previous model's 135mm. This higher ground clearance makes journeys through rugged terrains easier.

Comfort

The handlebar of the new Royal Enfield Classic 350 has been lowered and slightly curved back, bringing the rider closer to it. This adjustment results in a slightly more upright and comfortable riding posture, enhancing the connection with the bike.

The redesigned seats of the new Classic 350 are well-cushioned, ensuring good comfort during long highway journeys and short city commutes. Also, compared to the previous iteration, the new-generation Classic 350 has wider tyres - 100/90-19 front and 120/80-18 rear, ensuring better grip levels than before.

Features

The revamped Classic 350 retains its retro charm while getting a few modern features. Among the new updates is a semi-digital instrument cluster featuring an LCD screen for the fuel gauge, odometer, and trip meter. This is the first time that the Classic features a fuel gauge and not just a low fuel warning light. The 2024 variant comes with an all-LED lighting.

Another unique addition to the new Classic 350 is the optional Royal Enfield Tripper navigation module. Customers can opt for this turn-by-turn navigation unit instead of the standard Royal Enfield badge on the instrument console.

Should you buy

The Royal Enfield Classic 350 is ideal if you are looking for a retro-style motorcycle with equally good performance during urban and highway rides. The new engine provides a smoother riding experience while maintaining an authentic classic feel, the hallmark of Royal Enfield's previous models. While it may not be perfect in every aspect, it is a nice blend of classic design and modern refinement.
