The largest European motorcycle manufacturer KTM has updated the 2014 model of its top of the range enduro bike KTM 690 Enduro R. The update includes a switchable Bosch's Antilock Braking System (ABS) unit, which can be switched off to make rear wheel lockable during the off-roading performance. The tiny sized ABS system adds just around 700gms to this enduro bike.
The other technical updates in the bike are twin spark and cable free ride-by-wire throttle valve technologies for quick response, which gives more power, better fuel economy and lesser emissions.
2014 KTM 690 Enduro R sports the 690cc, Single-cylinder, 4-stroke, spark-ignition engine, liquid-cooled engine mated with a 6-speed, claw shifted gear-box. It features WP 4860 D48/26 MA forks at the front and WP 4618 suspension with Pro-Lever linkage at the rear, both of which features a travel of 250mm.
It uses a 300mm floating disc brake with two-piston brake caliper on the front wheel, while a 240mm floating disc brake with single-piston brake caliper on the rear wheel for perfect braking action. The bike has a ground clearance of 280mm and weighs only 139kg without fuel.
